George Merrick                                           Date of Death: April 07, 2007

George Merrick, age 64, of Galena, Ohio, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007 at O.S.U. Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born to the late Michael and Eva Merrick February 20, 1943 in Steubenville, Ohio. George was a founding member, past president and dedicated choir member of St. Stevan of Dechani Serbian Orthodox Church. He was a devoted history teacher and coach, influencing the lives of young people at both Westerville and Reynoldsburg High Schools. He was also the proud owner and operator of Merrick Electric. George was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, James Faccinto. Survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Annette Merrick; son, Michael Merrick; daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Ryan Harrington; beloved grandchildren, Reese and Luke Harrington; sisters, Sarah Medick and Bunny (Robert) Gottesman; mother-in-law, Helen Faccinto; brother-in-law, Nick (Billie Kay) Faccinto; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007 (Pomen Service at 7:30 p.m.) at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (Rte. 62), Gahanna, OH. Funeral Services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at St. Stevan of Dechani Serbian Orthodox Church, 1840 N. Cassady Ave., Columbus; Rev. Isak Kisin, officiating.
