Hugh R. Ballantine, 88, of Steubenville, Ohio died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Weirton Medical Center. He was born June 26, 1918 in Byesville, Ohio a son of the late Raymond G. and Florence Blair Ballantine. Hugh was a graduate of Cambridge High School and Muskingum College. He was the retired secretary/treasurer of Superior Clay Corp. in Uhrichsville, Ohio. Hugh was a member of Starkdale Presbyterian Church and Steubenville Country Club. He was an Army veteran of WWII and Purple Heart recipient. Preceding Hugh in death was his brother Robert Ballantine. Surviving are his wife Dorothy McClave Ballantine; two sons Douglas M. Ballantine and Bradley K. (Diane) Ballantine both of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren Ryan, Megan & Michael Ballantine; and sister Angela Young of Cambridge, Ohio. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio (740.264.0563) on Thursday 3-5 & 7-9 p.m., where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday with Rev. Dr. Philip Makari officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery.
