Karen Kay Phillips                                      Date of Death: April 25, 2006

Karen Kay Phillips, 58, of Steubenville, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. She was born July 28, 1947 in Steubenville. Karen was employed as the office manager for Dr. Howard W. Peterson and a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Steubenville High School. Preceding Karen in death was her father Robert E. Retzer. Surviving is her husband John W. Phillips whom she married on December 20, 1969. John is a retired sports writer and reporter for the Wheeling Intelligencer. Also surviving are her mother Shirley Mae Anderson Retzer; four sisters Donna Liverman of Dallas, TX, Darla (David) Burtnett of Dawsonville, GA, Mary “Lou” (Mike) Surgenor of Springfield, OH and Barbara (David) Anderson of Scott Depot, WV; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday with Rev. David Massimi and Pastor Mike Surgenor officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Covenant Presbyterian Church.
