Tomye Phillips                                     Date of Death: December 20, 2001

Tomye Hayes Thorne Phillips 81 of Steubenville, Ohio has gone to Heaven to be with our Father. She died on Thursday, December 20, 2001 at the Carriage Inn of Steubenville. Tomye was born on January 7, 1920 in Southside, WV to the late Albert Benjamin and Vernia Mae Dowell Hayes. She was a member of Pleasant Hills Baptist Church and was an employee of the former Broadway Lunch in Steubenville for twenty years. Tomye was preceded in death by her childrens’ father Gerald R. Thorne on April 3, 1999; a daughter Nina L. Thorne McCartney on Sept. 12, 1968; one sister and several brothers. She is survived by one son Richard “Leroy” Thorne of Steubenville; two daughters Shirley A. (Harry) Mitchell of Mingo Jct., OH and Dixie L. (Don) Christy of Unionport, OH; two sisters Janet Allison of Nitro, WV and Wanda Cook of Ft. Davis, TX; eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Private services and burial were held on Saturday at Fort Steuben Burial Estates with Pastor Tommy Mills officiating. Arrangements were made by Dunlope-Shorac, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio
