Anthony "Tony" J. D'Aurora

June 24, 1954 ~ November 16, 2015 (age 61) 61 Years Old

Anthony “Tony” J. D’Aurora of Steubenville died peacefully on Monday, November 16, 2015 with his family at his side from complications of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Tony fought the disease for 5 years, which included a stem cell transplant in 2012. He always was willing to try anything to beat the disease. Tony was born in Steubenville on June 24, 1954 to the late Vito J. & Yolanda (Lucci) D’Aurora. Tony was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, a 1972 graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central and a 1976 graduate of Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, OH with a degree in education. He also obtained his MS in Educational Administration from Franciscan University of Steubenville. He was an educator all his adult life, having taught at St. Charles Preparatory School in Columbus, Toronto High School and Steubenville Big Red. He currently was the principal at the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School in Bloomingdale, OH where all his co-workers were like a second family to him and who we would like to thank for all their support. In addition to teaching, Tony also coached many young students at these schools in football, baseball, softball and golf. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Senecal) D’Aurora; son Bryan (Amber Nocera) D’Aurora of Steubenville; daughter Shana (Christopher) Wydra of Cecil, PA; step-granddaughter Emily Wydra, of Munhall, PA; two brothers Joseph (Vickie) D’Aurora of New Albany, IN and Vito D’Aurora of Redding, CA; sister Anna Marie (Paul) Stolic of Greenville, SC; father-in-law Andrew P. Senecal of Pittsburgh, PA and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind his loving chocolate lab Reesie.  Friends may call at Dunlope – Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Thursday 5 – 8 p.m.  A memorial mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Friday at 9:30 a.m. with Msgr. Kurt Kemo officiating (everyone please meet at the church).  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Dietary Initiative c/o of Teramana Cancer Center 3204 Johnson Road, Steubenville, OH 43952 Attention: Susan Miller.
