



Dolores “Nunny” Byrd, 99, of Toronto, OH passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Valley Hospice North. She was born in Toronto, Ohio on April 15, 1909 a daughter of the late Stephen and Gertrude McCuen Hughes, she would have been 100 years old in just a short time. Nunny was preceded in death by her beloved husband Deadrick “Ted” Byrd, also preceding her in death were sisters; Lillian Davidson of Toronto, Bernadine Wolford of Wyandotte, Michigan, Pauline Porter Bradley of Weirton, W.V.; brothers Edward B. Hughes and John Donald Hughes, both of Toronto. Nunny was a devoted member of St. Francis Catholic Church, a Toronto High School Alumni and very active “senior” citizen of Toronto, Ohio. She was one of the original “Community All Stars” and described as “A petite, energetic bit of humanity who can never say “no” to requests for rides to functions, doctor’s appointments or grocery shopping. She filled her quota every month for card parties at the Riverside Manor, where she called home until her health declined at the age of 97. She leaves behind her sister June Sokol of Toronto, many loving nieces and nephews….along with old and new friends. Friends may call on Friday, 3-7p.m. at Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main Street, Toronto. Friends may also call on Saturday one hour prior to Funeral liturgy with mass, 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Vennitti as celebrant. Burial at Toronto Union Cemetery. Vigil services 3:30p.m. Friday. Memorials in her memory may be directed to St. Francis Catholic Church, 1225 N. River Ave., Toronto, OH 43964.
