George S. Harper

George S. “Dody” Harper, 72, of Steubenville died Sunday, July 12, 2009 at his residence.  He was born in Steubenville on December 26, 1936 the son of the late John and Mary Zerbach Harper.  Dody was Catholic by faith and retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel.  Preceded in death by his son John Harper and sisters Mary Catherine and Bobbie.  He is survived by his wife Mary Jane “Gus” Kirkpatrick Harper; sons George (Yun) Harper and David Harper both of Las Vegas, NV; daughters Bobbie Jo (Thomas) DiBattista of Follansbee, WV and Vickie (Robert) Thurkill of California; step-sons Rick (Karen) Kirkpatrick of Steubenville and Kent (Angie) Kirkpatrick of Wintersville; 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  Friends may call at Shorac Funeral Home, 611 N. 4th Street, Steubenville, OH (formerly McClave’s) on Wednesday, 5-8p.m., where funeral services will be held on Thursday, 10a.m. with Msgr. George Yontz officiating.  Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to: Charity Hospice, 500 Luray Drive, Steubenville, OH.
