



Jean Threnhauser Saltsman, 83, of Steubenville died Friday, January 29, 2010 at Valley Hospice North. She was born in Steubenville on December 6, 1926 a daughter of the late Francis and Mary Neill Threnhauser. Jean was a lifelong member of First Westminster Presbyterian Church and retired in September 1979 from the former Ohio Bell Telephone Company, where she was chief operator. Since retirement she had been a member of the Telephone Pioneers Life Member Club, where she had served as president. She graduated from Steubenville High School in 1944 and was active on her class reunion committee for many years. Jean was an avid Steelers fan and devoted to her beloved Big Red. She rarely missed a football game in the last 30 years whether it was home or away. She was a caregiver and always took care of those in her life. She was always ready for fun and quick with a laugh. Jean was preceded in death by her sisters infant Mary Elizabeth Threnhauser and Carolyn (Robert) McCrum; brothers John (Jackie) Threnhauser and Francis (Trenie) Threnhauser and an infant son John Robert Nichols. She is survived by her husband of almost 40 years Robert W. Saltsman, whom she married in Winchester, VA in 1970; daughter Heather Nichols (Pat) Ensminger of Weirton, WV; son Robert P. Saltsman of Winter Park, FL; sister RuthAnne Schriener Valiga of Weirton, WV; grandson Chad Canterbury of Weirton, WV; granddaughters Logan and Montana Saltsman of Winter Park, FL; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Monday 2-4 and 6-8p.m. where funeral services will be held at 2p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 with Rev. Jason Elliott officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Steubenville High School Band.
