



John L. "Jack" Savage 87, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010 surrounded by his loving family at Acuity Hospital, Steubenville, Ohio. He was born October 15, 1922 in Dillonvale, Ohio the son of the late John Savage & the late Elma Boissell McFadden.
He was a proud member of the Merrill's Marauder's Rangers serving with them in Burma during WWII. Jack was a retired art teacher from Indian Creek School District and had served as principal of Unionport School and assistant principal at Wintersville Elementary School. He was a member of the Ohio National Guard, American Legion, St. Agnes Catholic Church, St. Francis Society, GCU, OAKS Fraternity, Association of Elementary School Administrators, I.C.E.A., O.E.A., N.E.A., past member of the Mingo Knights of Columbus 4361, and a former councilman for the City of Mingo Junction. Jack was also a member of Order of the Arrow Lodge, committeeman for Boy Scout Troop 80 and camp director of Fort Steuben Council Area of B.S.A. Jack was preceded in death by his son Robert “Bob” Savage. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Mary "Babe" Timcho Savage, whom he married on September 1, 1949; children John “Larry” (Debbie) Savage of Weirton, Carolyn (Frank) Carducci of Steubenville, Mary Catherine (Dennis) Dylewski & Karen (Ron) Lloyd both of Mingo Junction; seven grandchildren Jennifer (Bill) Johnston, Nick & Valerie Carducci, Jordan Savage, Kayla & Megan Lloyd, and Olivia Dylewski; and two great granddaughters Emma McFarland & Madelyn Samson. Friends may call at Hoff-Shorac Funeral Home, 235 Clifton Avenue, Mingo Junction on Sunday 6-9 p.m.; and Monday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. On Tuesday, friends may call at St. Agnes Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass at 10 a.m. with Rev. James Dunfee officiating. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Military services will be conducted at the cemetery chapel by Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
