Lawrence Mitchell, Sr.

Lawrence Mitchell, Sr., 93, of Amsterdam, Ohio died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Weirton Medical Center. He was born August 1, 1916 in Brownsville, PA  a son of the late Thomas & Mary Mitchell. He was a retired teamsters truck driver having received many driving awards over the years. Lawrence was a member of Bloomingdale Church of God and was a WWII Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy E. Keefer Mitchell; 1 granddaughter; 2 great granddaughters; 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Surviving are his children Lawrence “Larry” (Irene) Mitchell, Jr. of Steubenville,  Dorothy Smith of Crockett, TX, Mary Hrivnak of Brooksville, FL, Sophie Reese of Wolf Run, OH, Peggy (Danny) Nelson of Mingo Junction & Lisa (Louis) Kakascik of Steubenville; 18 grandchildren, 39 great and 3 great great grandchildren.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home in Wintersville on Monday 6-8 p.m. where services will be held  10 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Delbert Lash officiating. Burial at New Alexandria Cemetery.

Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct military services at the cemetery.
