William C. "Bunker" McGrew
William C. “Bunker” McGrew, Jr., 58, of Unionport, Ohio died Monday, August 17, 2009 at his home with his family by his side.  He was born January 2, 1951 in Steubenville, Ohio a son of the late William C. “Winks” and Rose Marie Marshall McGrew, Sr.  He was a member of Unionport Christian Church.  Bunker was a member of International Operating Engineers Local 132 working 25 years at IMS in Follansbee/Mingo Junction and Local 18 working five years at Levy in Canton.  He served as a union steward for Local 132 for 20 years.  He attended Wayne High School, graduating from Wintersville High School in 1969.  Besides being a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Bunker was a lifelong baseball/softball player and coach that was well known and loved by his players and friends.  Now, forever coaching third base, he was an All-State USSSA coach in 1992 winning the state championship and finishing 16th in the world that same year.  The family would like to thank their friends and church family from Unionport Christian Church.  They would also like to express sincere thanks to Jack and Drenda Harris.  Surviving are his wife of 39 years Jeanne R. Neff McGrew whom he married October 16, 1969; son Christopher T. (Norma R.) McGrew of Bloomingdale, OH; daughter H. Maegan (Rick) Gibbons of Bloomingdale, OH; six grandchildren Gabriel McGrew, Mason and Ericka Gibbons, Spencer, Haley and Samuel Robinson all of Bloomingdale, OH; four sisters Theresa James of Texas, Debra (Frank) Anderson of Mingo Junction, OH, Janet (David) Foley of Unionport, OH and Edith (Doug) Dean of Sandusky, OH and brother Charles McGrew of Bloomingdale, OH.  Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where a service will be held Friday 10 a.m. with Rev. Hubert Granger officiating. Burial at Unionport Cemetery.
