Frederick A. Donaldson

Frederick A. Donaldson, 81, of Steubenville, Ohio died Saturday, August 8, 2009 at his home.  He was born February 21, 1928 in Canonsburg, PA a son of the late Louis D. and Helen Townrow Donaldson, Jr.  He served in the U.S. Navy Amphibious Forces during WW II in the Pacific Theater.  He retired in November 2005 as a self-employed dental technician, was a commercial pilot and a charter member of the Eddie Dew Memorial Pilots Association.  Preceding Fred in death were his wife Ruth Dennis Donaldson; son Charles Donaldson; daughter Kathryn Donaldson and a brother Louis D. Donaldson III.  Surviving are his son Thomas A. Donaldson of West Alexandria, OH; daughter Joan Gooch of Luebbering, MO; grandsons Tony Ellis of Falls Church, VA, Thomas D. Donaldson of West Alexandria, OH, Daniel Donaldson of West Alexandria, OH; granddaughter Elise Donaldson of Kettering, OH; brother James T. Donaldson of Bivalve, MD and sister Alice J. Kundrat of Melbourne, FL.  There will be no visitation.  Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements entrusted to Shorac Funeral Home (Formerly McClave), 611 N. 4th Street, Steubenville.
