Virgil Lee Pitts

Virgil Lee Pitts, 54, of Steubenville, OH died Friday, January 8, 2010 at his home.  He was born April 27, 1955 in Kentuckyville, OH a son of the late Oscar “Pepper” and Betty Whitehair Pitts.  He was a truck driver for Con-Way Freight.  He was loved by many.  Preceding Virgil in death were his daughter Rebecca Lynn Pitts and sister Brenda Cress.

Virgil is survived by his wife Alice M. Monroe Pitts; seven children Bryan Pitts of Grand Junction, CO, Beth Preston of Grand Junction, CO, Stephanie (Jason) Blazer of Alliance, OH, Samantha Monroe of Steubenville, OH, Christopher (Sarah) Pitts of Hanoverton, OH, C.J. Riter of Steubenville, OH and Jamie Pitts of Sebring, OH; four sisters Vickie (Bill) Nelson of Guilford Lake, OH, Sue (Doug) Eckler of South Carolina, Annie (Greg) Butler of East Rochester, OH and Cindy (Harvey) Mountz of Kensington, OH; brother Harry (Julie) Pitts of Hanoverton, OH; 10 grandchildren and step-mother Beverly J. Martz Pitts  of Adena, OH.  Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, on Sunday 2 – 4 & 6 – 9 p.m. where a service will be held Monday 10 a.m. with Brother Palmer McGuire, Jr. and Rev. Arthur McGuire officiating. Burial at Holly Memorial Gardens.
