Austin H. “Red” Roush, 94, of Steubenville, Ohio died Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Trinity West. He was born May 27, 1926 in Follansbee, WV a son of the late Howard & Edna Davis Roush. He retired from W-P Steel as a first operator in the oxygen plant. Red was a founding member of Bell Chapel U.M. Church and served in the USMC during WWII, receiving the Purple Heart for his service at Iwo Jima. Preceding Red in death were his first wife Kathryn Barrett Roush, second wife Maxine McNemar Grimm Roush; son Thomas Roush; siblings Robert Roush, Elma Dallas & Theresa Roush.
Red loved to travel, hunt and fish and to bake pies and cakes, but nothing gave him more enjoyment than working in his vegetable garden with his little side-kick, great granddaughter Emma Hoit.
Red is survived by his four children Martin (Susan) Roush, Dr. Amelia (Dr. Hal Armistead) Roush, Carol (Mike) Donohue & Barbara (David) Andrews; daughter-in-law Barbara Wilson Roush; nine grandchildren; five great grandsons and two great granddaughters; numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to the covid pandemic, private services and entombment will be held at Fort Steuben.
