Donald R. George Obituary

Donald R. George of Wintersville, Ohio passed away on his 91st birthday at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Steubenville and served in the USAF during the Korean War. Don was a loyal member of Finley U.M. Church where he directed the choir for many years. He was a retired USPS mail carrier  and an avid Notre Dame fan.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Stephen S. and Florence Hadsell George and two brothers William George & Rev. Paul Dean George.

Don is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ruth L. Porter George, whom he married on July, 17, 1951; three children Deborah (Harold) Griffith, Mark (Ginger) George and Kathleen (Nicholas) Romano; eight grandchildren Lori (Jason) Hudson, Eric (Kelly) Johnston, Adam Johnston, Dustin (Courtney) Griffith, Amber (Joshua) Leitzy, Tyler George, Matthew (Becky) Westling & Alyssa Westling; ten great grandchildren Aubrey, Meredith, Brian, Rylie, Ethan, Mason, Grayson, Kaden, Nathan & Noah; great great grandchild Ashton; and sister Ruth Ann McNeil.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Sunday 1-4 p.m. On Monday, friends may call at Finley Church from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Rick Dawson officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben.

Memorials may directed to Finley Church.
