Gilbert "Gil" Ford Boring Obituary

Gilbert “Gil” Ford Boring, 86, died peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.  He was born October 3, 1937, to the late H. Leslie Boring and Mary Jane Grimm Boring, of Toronto.  He was a 1955 graduate of Jefferson Union High School and a graduate of the College of Steubenville. Gil taught swimming under the Red Cross Learning to Swim Program at Lake Austin and was a little league baseball manager for the Yankees in Richmond for many years. He had a 4-H tractor club in the 4-H program teaching safety on the farm.  He was a member of the Jefferson County 4-H Counsel and a member of the Jefferson County Fair Board.  He also served as the Parade Grand Marshall at the Jefferson County Fair. With his wife Barbara, he was the owner of Kuester Implement Co. in Wintersville for many years. He was a member of the New Somerset Christian Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, Superintendent, Deacon, Elder and board chairman.  He was a 50-year member of Unionport Masonic Lodge #333 F. and A.M., as well as the Unionport Eastern Star and the Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville. 

Gil was predeceased by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Kuester Boring. He leaves behind five children.  Les (Marian) Boring of Laurel, MD., Keith (Pam) Boring of Little River, SC., David (Gloria) Boring of Richmond, OH., Lori (Steve) Hafner of Sandusky, OH, and Dean (Julie) Boring of Richmond, OH.  He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren.  Brandon (Kelly) Boring, Halley (Chris) Kevan, Allison (Joe) Burch, Brian (Bekah) Boring, Bryce (Samantha) Boring, Devina (Tyler) Raybuck, Robert (Erin) Boring, Teresa (Johnny Mycek) Boring, Kristin (Shane) Granatir, Brad (Becca) Boring, Ryan Hafner, Kayla Hafner, Amanda Boring and his 17 great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Wednesday, March 13th between 3 – 7 p.m. with services on Thursday, March 14th at 10 a.m.   Rev. Jason Elliott of First Westminster Church will be officiating.  Interment will follow the service at Osage Cemetery, TWP 242, Toronto, Ohio. 

The family would like to sincerely thank Valley Hospice and everyone who loved, prayed and cared for our loving father during his journey. 

Masonic Services will be held at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
