Jane Myers Obituary

Jane Myers, lifelong resident of Steubenville, died Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89. One of ten siblings of the late Lloyd and Gladys Swisher Rudy. Jane’s parents died early leaving her to raise her young brother and sister at the age of seventeen.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son in law Jack Salonica (2019) and seven siblings.

She retired from Steubenville City School as a secretary with over 25 years at the former Wells School. A devoted Christian, she nourished her faith at First Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she considered it to be her second family. Jane enjoyed a good round of golf, belonging to Cadiz and Dyer Country Clubs and East Springfield Ladies golf group.

Jane was known for her culinary skills and fresh baked desserts. Always enjoyed sewing, walking the dog, pulling weeds, burning shrubs and on occasion a visit from the Fire Department when it got out of control.

Left to cherish her memories, husband Carl, whom she married on May 13, 1956, daughter, Becky (late, Jack) Salonica and Jeffrey Myers both of Steubenville, grandchildren Cherie (Ryan) Ramsey of Steubenville, Jessica (Scott) Nelson of Toronto, Kaitlyn (Blair) Morris of Greenville, SC, four great grandchildren Isaiah Ramsey, Bentley Nelson, Ethan Ramsey and Lillian Nelson, brother Karol Ruby of Steubenville and sister Nancy (Karl) Litten of Asheville, NC.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at First Westminster Presbyterian Church, 235 N. Fourth Street, Steubenville on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 where visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11 a.m. Rev. Jason Elliott officiating. Private burial at Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to First Westminster Church, 235 N. Fourth Street, Steubenville, Ohio 43952 or Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, Ohio 43943.
