Aunt Cora was like a second mother to me. I remember so many summers growing up when I would spend a week or so with her family on the farm, first at Ferndale and then at the Pine-O-Rama. I have so many wonderful memories of those times: picking strawberries with Aunt Em, picking and canning peaches with Aunt Cora and Sue, watching Aunt Cora and Aunt Em quilting in the evening, learning to use a sewing machine as Aunt Cora gave me instructions and patiently corrected my mistakes, refinishing furniture with her and Sue, going with Sue to feed the chickens or play with the kittens, picking and cooking all those wonderful fresh vegetables from the garden, and trying out new recipes…and the list goes on and on. Of course, there were also many Sunday dinners and visits at her house. Even after I moved away and had a family of my own, she was always there to talk with, to listen to my problems and give me sound and sensible advice. And always Aunt Cora and Uncle Johnny offered to put us up at their house when I came back to Steubenville with my husband or my daughter to visit. I loved her very much and am so grateful to have been her niece. My heartfelt condolences to Sue and Jim and Bonnie and their families.

Barbara, thank you so much for your kind words. Mom was one of a kind and I have grown to realize what a gift from God she was for me. She will be greatly missed but has left us with such loving memories.

DEAR KIRK FAMILY. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PICTURE OF DEAR CORA--JUST THE WAY I REMEMBER HER; ALWAYS SMILING, KIND AND GENTLE. WE WERE IN THE COUNTRY COUSINS FARM BUREAU GROUP TOGETHER AND HAD MANY MEMORABLE MEETINGS WITH HER AND JOHN, THE HILLS, THE RAMSEYS AND THE MILLERS. WE VISITED CORA AT THE WALNUT CREEK HOME. JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO I STOPPED IN TO SEE HER AND WAS SO SAD TO SEE HOW SHE WAS. BROKE MY HEART. THANK YOU FOR HAVING THIS PICTURE ON LINE TO BE ABLE TO REMEMBER HER AS WHEN I FIRST KNEW HER. MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO YOU ALL. SHE WAS A WONDERFUL PERSON AND I LOVED HER. SINCERELY, MARY ELLEN GRAFTON
