We send your our sincere condolences on your loss. Mary was always the youngest person at heart that we ever knew. It was a privilege to have taught with her and to have attended concerts with her. She was always a true and caring friend. Memories of Mary will brighten our lives always.

My deepest sympathy to you o the loss of your Mom. I first knew Mrs. Coleman through you, Mary Ann (we were friends in Jr. high and I spent time at your home...your Mom was always very kind, thoughtful and made me feel she was truly interested in me as a person). I transferred to Big Red and was lucky to have Mrs. Coleman as my home room teacher - she made me feel welcome immediately. Even better was the opportunity to have her for an English teacher...because of Mrs. Coleman's influence I was an English Major. After 50 years, I am still grateful for the good fortune of having Mrs. Coleman in my life - what a special lady she was!

Mrs. Coleman was my English teacher at SHS in the late 60's. She was an absolutely wonderful individual who cared so much for her students. Always a kind word and always very concerned about a student's progress. She never forgot a face! She sent me cards for the birth of my children and for my marriage. So sorry to hear of her passing. However, she did leave a wonderful and inspiring life.

Mrs. Coleman was an exceptional person and teacher, who took her calling with a seriousness of purpose that is rare. She contributed a lot to Steubenville, SHS, and to my knowledge of language. She taught my English class junior year and my AP English senior year (1970-71). Please accept my condolences.

Mrs. Coleman was an inspiration to me and to my education. She, along with Miss Giles, two of my English teachers at Big Red (class of 1971), inspired me to be an English major in college. I eventually became and am a college professor now because of their instilling in me a love of learning and eventually a love of teaching. Mrs. Coleman's AP English class at SHS was one of the best classes I ever had, high school or college. I owe her a great debt of gratitude.

I remember one wonderful thing Mary did for the Literacy Council. the As a literacy volunteer Mary read to the children of expectant mothers at the Ohio Valley Hospital Mothers' Clinic and impressed upon the mothers the importance of reading to their babies in utero. She was a grand lady. May she rest in peace.

So sorry about your Mom. She was a great lady and we loved her as did many. We are going to be out of town Friday and Saturday. I know she is at peace and in heaven with your Dad. Prayers for all of you.
